To evaluate a proposed plan to reduce acid drainage from Penn Mine, Derrik Williams developed a water budget of the site, and differentiated between waters that are impacted by the acid mine drainage and waters that are not impacted. The water budget helped show how the proposed plan would effectively reduce the amount of Acid Mine drainage entering East Bay Municipal Utility District's Camanche Reservoir.
